PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The project “Inclusivity & Accessibility of Historic Public Spaces – Approach & Digital Tool” aims to develop an innovative higher education teaching program addressing the academic gap in inclusive design for historic urban spaces. Utilizing modern educational tools like MOOCs and a Digital model of inclusive design, the project also aims to enhance digital competencies among students and academic professionals.
As part of the project, a complete set of teaching materials will be developed, both in traditional form – a handbook and in digital form, in the shape of MOOCs and a digital design-consultation platform. These educational resources will be used in the newly developed academic subject “Inclusive Design of Historic Public Spaces” for which a syllabus will be prepared. In the pilot implementation phase, the subject will be tested among both academic teachers and students in international courses.
The project’s outcome will be the implementation of the course into the programs of universities within the consortium. The course will be dedicated to second-degree Architecture students and related disciplines. An intangible result of the project will be the enhancement of digital skills among academics and students, as well as their awareness of the need for inclusive design of public spaces in collaboration with the community, both during the project’s development and after its completion.
